Challenging Stereotypes


Type:Oral

Course Description:

In this class, we will discuss various stereotypes that exist in culturesaround the world focusing on those most familiar to us. The goal of thisclass is to help you see people as individuals rather than only as membersof a group, and to challenge the way you think about social interaction.This is an active participation class: students will need to join in thediscussion every day for participation credit. Use of PCs or smartphonesis not allowed unless specific permission is given. Paper and electronicdictionaries are allowed, but smartphone-based dictionaries are prohibited.



Learning outcomes:

After this class, You will be able to work more easily with people fromother cultures, and analyze various media for bias and related social content.
