研究会概要

目的・内容

高度な経済成長を続けている中国は、ＧＤＰが日本を抜いて世界第二位の経済大国になり、世界で影響力を増しています。一方、中国はまだ発展途上国であり、急速な経済発展のなかで貧富の格差や環境汚染など様々な社会問題が顕在化しています。私たちの対中認識も格差、抑圧、腐敗、汚染などマイナスな側面がつきまといがちです。このような「経済大国」と「発展途上国」という2つの顔を持ち、様々な矛盾を抱える中国に対して、どのように理解すればよいでしょうか。

本ゼミでは、歴史学と社会学の視点から近現代中国の社会変動を多面的かつ総合的に捉えます。
テキストは指定しないが、文献に基づいて輪読発表と討論を行う。自由な雰囲気の中で、中国研究の基本的な視点を身につけ、同時に論文の書き方も学んでいく。

China has overtaken Japan as world's second largest economy, with rising influences around the world. However, China still remains a developing country facing many imminent challenges like social inequality and environmental pollution. How to understand the two faces of China as both an economic power and a developing country?

This seminar aims to understand the social transformation of modern and contemporary China from historical and sociological perspectives.

Reading materials will be distributed for in-class presentation and discussion. Students will also learn how to do China studies and how to write academic papers.
