科目概要
イスラームの発祥以前の中東、そしてイスラーム勃興後のイスラーム世界の広がりと諸分派の発生について概説し、「世界三大宗教」のひとつにも数えられるイスラームについての理解力を深め、西アフリカから東南アジアまで広がるイスラーム圏における共通項と多様性の両面からイスラームを認識する。
This course will discuss the spread of Islam throughout the Eurasian continent and beyond, and its diverse society ranging from West Africa to Southeast Asia.

主題と目標／授業の手法など
講義を通じて国際政治・経済・社会などの分野でかかわることが一般化している、イスラーム教徒が支配的な国家の根底に存在する、イスラームに関する基礎的な知識を習得する。
The course will intend to focus of the basic of Islam and its society. Relationship between Islam and international politics, economy, society, et al, will be the related issues that we will try familiarize ourselves with.

提出課題・試験・成績評価の方法など
期末レポートで判定する。授業への出席状況も含めて総合的に判定するが、オンラインでの講義であることから、計5回ほどの課題の提出を以て出欠確認に代える。
Will require a submission of a final report. Attendance at class will also be incorporated during the grading process, but due to technical limitations, attendance/absence will be measured through the submission of short assignments during the semester.
履修上の注意
現状ではWebex Trainingを利用する予定であるが、状況に応じてZoomなどを活用する。
Will be using Cisco's Webex Training for this distant learning, but may have to switch to Zoom and other utilities when required.
