科目概要


TOEFLスコア424点以下の学生を対象とするコースで、英語基礎力（特にプレゼンテーション能力、コミュニケーション能力）を集中的に習得することを目的としている。このコースは、プロジェクト英語の前提となる英語力強化を目的として設置されたものであり、学期中に行うTOEFL-ITPのスコアがプロジェクト英語履修の際のレベル決定に使われる。なお、このコースは1学期で完結する。

This gateway course is designed for those students who would like to build the foundations of basic English skills, focusing on presentation skills and communication skills. Those students whose TOEFL score is below 424 are highly encouraged to take this course as a prerequisite for Project English courses, the placement for which will be made on the basis of TOEFL-ITP which will be administered during the term. Please note that this course will completed in one semester.

Course Description:
Do you want to use English? Do you want to become more comfortable communicating in English? Do you want to improve your presentation skills?
Do you want to learn common idioms and useful expressions? Do you want to brush up your grammar? Do you want to improve your TOEFL score and prepare for Project A classes? Do you want to enjoy speaking English? If you say “YES!” to any of these questions, GATEWAY is the perfect class for you!

You will meet twice a week. This means you will spend 6 hours using English. You will focus more on fluency rather than accuracy which means you will be able to speak naturally rather than worrying about making mistakes. So JOIN GATEWAY and let’s have fun!!

Learning Outcome:
By taking 4 periods (koma) a week you will be able to;
1. Overcome your shyness and fear.
2. Ask questions and answer in full sentences.
3. Write logical and accurate sentences.
4. Make short presentations.
5. Practice REAL English
6. Make new friends and become a good team player.
