建築都市設計・まちづくりに関する予備知識が求められます。また研究会は基本英語での進行を行うので英語によるコミュニケーション能力を求めます。

研究会概要

目的・内容

What we are pursuing：‘Participatory Architecture, Urban and Community Design’

Kobayashi laboratory, koblab, pursues to revitalize and enforce communities and to create new value in the environment involved in communication-based social, cultural, and spatial design stemming from the micro-culture of an area and the traits that compose its rich sense of place in local society.

Architecture and urban design has clear impacts on the community, so we strive to comprehend how form affects people’s lives. If communities are not well understood, formal interventions will not respond to the needs of the people and, therefore, they will not complement the area. We try to understand what notions of people and culture create an effective design methodology and what kinds of form create positive outcomes. We try to visualize the invisible character of communities and translate that character into form through our various projects.

We execute a broad range of projects that goes beyond traditional architectural design and construction to pursue design-build methods based on the tectonics of architecture and an understanding of the social role of architecture. We explore effective ways to contribute to society and create new social capital by shaping the form and plan of communities and planning for the future of their living environment.

In each project we visit the actual site at the right moment and closely observe the place and its people, accept actual problems agilely, and respond to the situation at the site by using a positive, analytical and creative design methodology. This process makes students commit to the problems of the community and embody them by themselves, which feeds them for the next challenge of solving the problems.

We keep on executing real projects in society and acting with responsibility to be able to commit to the actual problems of the society closely and realistically.


We are accepting application to join Hiroto Kobayashi Lab, for the academic year of 2020 spring semester according to the following conditions.

One must understand the stated goals of the lab and check the prerequisites necessary to be accepted in to the application process. Please bring your essay and portfolio to the interview session. Based on this process, we will evaluate in totality and decide the participating members that will collaborate throughout the year.

Although Hiroto was supposed to study abroad and take a leave of absence in fall 2020 and spring 2021, it was postponed for 1 semester. In 2020 fall we will conduct regular koblab actions as usual. For academic year 2021, koblab will keep working but for the semesters, please register to Shigeru Ban's laboratory.

研究会が目指すもの：「パーティシパトリー建築・都市・コミュニティデザイン」

小林博人研究会では、コミュニケーションをベースとした社会や文化そして空間のデザインへの介入を通して、地域社会における場所の豊かさやその根源をなす地域の微文化に根ざしたコミュニティの再生や強化、そして地域の新たな価値の創造を目指しています。

建築設計やアーバンデザインは、人と関わる空間を形作ります。一見つかみどころのない人的な集まりと一見人間とは関係のないように思われる物理的空間を占める形との関係はそれぞれ別々に形成されることは決してありません。どのような人間の意識がどのような形を生み出すのか、またどのような形が人の心や身体に作用しうるのかを様々なプロジェクトを通して理解しようと試みます。

従来の建築の設計や施工の方法論の先を見据え、建築が果たす社会的役割りを理解し、社会の問題解決に貢献できるデザイン・ビルドの世界を模索する建築のテクトニックに根ざしたプロジェクトから、社会のコミュニティの形態とその形に注目し、将来のあるべきまちの姿を構想するソーシャルキャピタルを構想するプロジェクトまでを横断する幅広いプロジェクトに取組んでいます。

各プロジェクトでは、自らの身体を使って能動的に分析・解決・創作するデザイン手法によって、適切なタイミングで現地に赴き、土地や人をよく知り、柔軟な態度をもって問題を受け入れ、その場で求められる対応に的確に応えようとしていきます。この過程を通して問題を自分のこととして身体化し、次の問題解決のための糧としていきます。

これからも実社会におけるリアルなプロジェクトを通し、自らが自らと社会との関係をより近く現実味を持って感じ責任をもって介入していくことを目指してアクションを起こしていきたいと考えます。


小林博人研究会では2020年度春学期に活動するメンバーを以下の要領に従って募集します。

以上に示す研究会の目指すところを理解し、履修に必要な要件を確認の上、エッセイ・ポートフォリオを持参して面接を受けてください。それらを総合的に判断し協働するメンバーを決定します。2020年度の活動を共に行いたいと考える人は上記準備して応募ください。インタビューのための日程調整をメールにて小林博人（教員）[hiroto@sfc.keio.ac.jp], 清水信宏（教員）[shimnov@gmail.com]に連絡ください。

なお、2020年度秋学期・2021年度春学期は小林が留学予定でしたが、コロナの影響により１学期延期になりましたので秋学期は通常通り研究会を行います。2021年度も研究会活動は引き続き行いますが、その際の登録は坂茂研究会で行なってください。

課題

Through design/construction of architecture, Machizukuri, and urbanism, revitalization of place is to be studied and practiced.
We plan to revitalize areas which communities want to maintain based on collaboration with communities in urban and rural settings.

建築設計・施行、都市リサーチ・デザインを通して、町づくり・地域づくり・復興支援に貢献できる研究・実践を行います。
また都心・地方におけるコミュニティと連携して、地域再生計画を遂行します。

Make the problems of the community your own and develop empathy which emerges by committing and working voluntarily in the making of architecture and community.

自分からコミットすることにより「自分ゴト・共感を生む」研究会です。積極的な関わりの上で、建築づくり、コミュニティづくりを行ないます。

その他・留意事項

Our laboratory is based on your own commitment. Students who try to find and solve problems and to propose solutions by action are most welcome.
As English is primary language used for discussion, students are expected to express themselves in English.

本研究会では、積極的な参加が前提となります。自分から問題発見・解決方法提案・実践を行なえる、あるいは行なう意志のある者の参加を前提とします。
本研究会では、英語での議論が頻繁に行なわれることから英語で自分を表現することのできる、あるいはする意志のある者の参加を前提とします。

授業スケジュール

The first 3 weeks are for survey and research on the proposed issue, the second 5 weeks are for identifying problems and possible solutions, and the last 6 weeks are for solving problems by proposing concrete ideas and methods and presenting findings.

In the case the social condition doesn't allow us to meet in person with large number of people, we will have small group meetings or remote meetings instead.

前段３週間を対象プロジェクトのサーベイ、リサーチ期間としてあて、現状の把握とドキュメントに努めます。 中盤５週間を問題発見・解決手法の検討の時期とし、問題の所在を明らかにします。 後段６週間を提案の時期とし、具体的問題解決につながる提案素案・プレゼンテーションを行います。

社会情勢により研究会の全体での集まりが適切ではないと判断された場合、小グループによるミーティングあるい遠隔によるミーティングに切り替えます。
