Topics covered in the course include validity, test uses & formats, design & analysis, score reliability, and fairness & ethics in assessment.
While this is a research-oriented seminar, students will engage in both theoretical and practical (i.e., classroom-based) examinations of the uses and interpretations of assessments for second language learning. The course will be a mix of lecture, online interactions, and task-based learning. This class is primarily designed for those who have an interest in language education and research.
This course will survey second and foreign language teaching online methods, approaches, and research for those interested in language teaching & learning. We will look into several major topics in the field of online language teaching, including approaches to teaching different skills, language curriculum, and testing.
