研究会概要

目的・内容

This is a seminar on American foreign policy and international relations. The seminar will specifically focus on the impact of ‘Trumpian foreign policy’ on the long-term foreign and national security posture of the United States. The seminar will consider whether the Trumpian phenomenon is unique to the president himself or whether it represents a fundamental shift in the perception of America’s role in the world. There are rising signs of ‘retrenchment’ in the United States. Japan has predicated on America being a resident power in East Asia. Japan, having a unique relations with the United States, would have to rethink the fundamentals of its foreign policy, if the U.S. is becoming a “reluctant power.”
