研究会概要
目的・内容
This seminar aims at promoting students' understanding of recent global macroeconomic and finance issues that are often covered by media. The topics can cover varoius issues including the macroeconomic performance in the US, Japan, Europe, and China (including US-China conflicts and Brexit); US Presidential election and inequality, fintech and digital currency; financial center and economic integration; monetary policy; exchange rate regime; debt issues and debt trap in developing economies, ESG investment and management, etc. Students are expected to do own study to deepen understanding and learn from each other by making presentation and actively paricipate in discussions.
評価方法
Students are evaluated based on the efforts made to promote undestanding of the topics and to contribute to active discussions in the semiar by asking questions and making comments. Students do not need to worry about how much prior knowledage they hold. The seminar is to create a friendly environment where students enjoy learning about the issues. Evaluation is made based on (1) attendance, (2) presentation about a topics of interest, (3) active participation in the debate, and (4) presentation and submission of a term paper.

来期の研究プロジェクトのテーマ予定
Depending on students' interest, the topics could cover the 2020 US preseidential election and US economy; US-China disputes; China's economic slowdown; COVID-19 pandemic and recovery, BREXIT, EU policy such as Green Deal and ESG investment; fintech and digital currency: income difference and inequality; debt trap in developing countries, etc.
その他・留意事項
Students who take both GIGA and Japanse seminar can submit just one report to one of the two seminars (either in Engish or Japanese). But students must make presentation in botth seminars.
授業スケジュール
Presentation on the topics of interst and Q&A, participating in the study groups; debate preparation and participation in the debate; presentation and submissoin of a term paper.
