研究会概要

目的・内容

本研究プロジェクトでは、インターネットを前提とした技術および社会のあり方についての研究を行う。インターネットは、現在では社会の共通基盤として不可欠なものとなっている。技術面・社会面の双方で、私たちが問題を発見し解決すること、夢を見つけて実現することは、インターネット以前（Before Internet, BI）とインターネットを前提とした現状の社会 (After Internet, AI) とでは全く異なっている。

　技術面では、通信システム、分散計算機環境、Webアーキテクチャ、センサーネットワーク技術、ビッグデータシステム、Internet of Things や　Future Internet 技術など、プロトコルやシステム、その応用と展開についての実装と実証を目指す研究活動を行う。

　社会面では、AI時代の新しい約束やルールについて検討し、インターネットの研究を通して「未来の社会をどう創っていくか」を考え、実践する。また、現在の日本では80%以上の人がインターネットを利用しているのに対して、世界でのインターネットの利用者は30%程度である。世界を先導できる仕組みを社会とのつながりのなかで研究する。

　本研究プロジェクトは本学の大学院プロジェクト科目（モバイル広域ネットワーク）やSFC研究所の各種ラボ（インターネットリサーチラボ、インターネットと社会ラボ、Auto-IDラボ等）、IETF・W3C・ISO等の国際標準化団体と協働するとともに、日本国内外との民間企業や他大学と共同で研究活動を行っている。　現在、主に研究されているテーマは、以下の通りである。

This research project focuses on the technologies and societies basis on the Internet.

In this After Internet (AI) era, the Internet takes the essential role in common base of society. In the currently process, it is totally different to find/resolve a problem & find/actualize dream, compared to Before Internet (BI) era in both of technology and social sides.

In the technology side, we are implementing and demonstrating for the application and development of protocols and systems, for example, Communication System, Distributed Computing Environment, Web Architecture, Sensor Networking Technologies, Big Data System, Internet of Things and Future Internet Technologies.

In the social side, we are discussing the new rules for AI era as well as considering "How to create the future society" through Internet researches and practicing the ideas. The ratio of the Internet users is now over 80% in Japan, but in the globe, it is still 30%. Thus, we also study the way to lead the world in the view of global association.

This research project is cooperating with the class of postgraduate course (Mobile wide area network), various labs in SFC laboratory (ex. Internet Research Laboratory, Laboratory for Internet and Society, Auto-ID Laboratory, etc...), global standardization body (ex. IETF, W3C, ISO, etc...) and companies or other universities domestically and overseas.

- Internet via satellite communication for all Southeast Asian nations

評価方法

以下の点により総合的に評価する。

- 木曜4,5限の授業への出席
- 活動報告発表（卒論準備のためのTERM発表は2回、WIP発表は1回）
- 研究グループでの日常の活動状況
- 卒業論文（4学年のみ）

Grading is based on:

- Attendance at RG joint meeting (every Thursday 4th-5th period)
- Attendance, participation and research activity (depending on the kenkyu/research group)
- Activity report/Presentation (WIP or TERM)
- Thesis (4th year student only)

第1回に、研究会活動の説明や履修者の体験談が聞けるガイダンスを設けている。基本的に履修選抜は行なわない。

You will be given detailed explanations about our lab on the first RG joint meeting.
Therefore, we strongly recommend students, especially new comers, to not miss the first meeting.

授業スケジュール

- 研究プロジェクト内での活動は主にテーマ毎の研究グループに分かれて行う。週1回〜2回の研究グループのミーティングに参加し、研究グループ内で自分の取り組む研究テーマを決め、指導を受けながら研究を行う。
- 学期中に１度以上、自身の研究活動の発表を行う。４年時に卒業プロジェクトを希望するものは、３年時までに評価を含めた研究発表(TERMプロジェクト)を行い、許可を得ること。
- 木曜4,5限の時間は、共通知識の獲得を目的とし、合同研究プロジェクトの教員による講義や、実習形式のワークショップ等が行われる。

- We have multiple kenkyu/research groups focusing on different topics, and every student joins at least one kenkyu/research group based on your insight. Other than the RG joint meeting on Thursdays, students also participate in their own weekly group meetings and make progresses independently from others.
- We have two opportunities, midterm and final, to conduct a student WIP presentation. Students present their work either in the middle or the end of the semester. In general, 3rd graders need to pass the TERM project, which is an opportunity for professors to judge the student's research ability, before actually allowing them to work on their thesis.
- We also have weekly RG joint meetings every Thursday 4th and 5th period, which we generally use for lectures by senior students, professors and guests.
