科目概要

フランス語のリスニング力を養い、政治、環境、文化に関するフランス語表現を習得、さらに分野に応じた翻訳のスキルを学ぶことを目的とした授業です。具体的には、インターネットで配信されるフランス語のニュース、インタビューなど生の映像や音声を聞いて、内容の把握、全体の聞き取りを行います。さらに、フランス語の技術力をアップさせるために、シャドーイングを取り入れ、前回行ったリスニングからいくつか文章を抜粋して暗唱を行います。教材は主として時事問題を扱うものが中心となりますので、フランス語の知識のみならず、現代社会の問題にも興味を持つことが望ましいです。翻訳は、ただフランス語を日本語に訳すだけでなく、誰に何をどのように伝えるかを考え、それに応じて情報を加えたり、逆に削ったり、日本語の文体を選択しながら行います。つまり、ここでの翻訳とは、原文に忠実であることよりもむしろ受信者を設定しながら情報を再構築していくことを意味します。したがって、翻訳に際しては、フランス語力よりもむしろ日本語力が重要になります。

This course is designed to improve French listening skill, to enrich vocabulary on politics, environment and culture, and to acquire translation skills according to various domains. More specifically, we will use materials such as French video clips (news and interviews) in order to improve listening comprehension. Moreover, we also will do shadowing practices (recitation of some passages explained in the previous session). Students should be interested not only in French language, but also in different issues in contemporary society. For correct translation, it is necessary to think about type of audience and way to express, and to choose a proper style in Japanese. In other words, the proper translation is not to be faithful to the original text, but to reorganize information according to listeners. Therefore, Japanese language skill, rather than French language skill, is more important in translation.

１. 知識と文脈を頼りに聞き取る
１００％聞き取れなくても、知識と周囲の文脈を駆使して、大体の内容を理解できるようにしましょう。
2. 周囲の文法要素を頼りに聞き取る
フランス語には同音で綴り字が異なる語(aimer, aimé(e), aimaient, aimai…)が多くありますが、文法的な知識が選択を容易にしてくれますので、聞き取りをしながら文法の復習をしましょう。
３うまくごまかす
よくわからない箇所をうまくごまかすことは外国語運用において必要な技術です。とりわけ話し言葉の翻訳、通訳の場合には、元の発話にいいよどみがあったり、矛盾があったり、言い切らなかったりと、首尾一貫していないことがしばしばです。それをうまく日本語にしていきましょう。

1. Listen and understand by exploiting knowledge and context
It is important, not to listen and understand completely, but to have a general grasp by exploiting knowledge and context.
2. Listen and understand by exploiting grammatical points
In French language, there are many words that are pronounced the same, but are spelled differently. Grammar knowledge will help to discern them. Grammar review is also indispensable with listening exercises.
3. Get through difficulties
In foreign language practice, it is necessary to have a technique to get through difficulties when you cannot understand well. Particularly in oral translation, speaker’s discourse is often unclear, ambiguous, inconsistent, and incoherent. It is important to get through these difficulties and to explain the meanings in plain Japanese.
